Our Lady Undoer of Knots

This richly textured painted paper mosaic collage was commissioned by an art lover who wanted Our Lady Undoer of Knots created in “southwest colors,” the colors of the New Mexico town she so loved.  I enjoyed the challenge of creating this work in these colors for her.  I was pleased when she found the finished work to be delightful.  In this image, prayers are going up to Mary via the knotted ribbon. Mary’s prayers work to undo the “knots” in the lives of the petitioners, and the angels assist in returning the untied knots. This devotion has been re-popularized by Pope Francis during his pontificate.
